The Academy will be run by Sensei Jason Smith 4th Dan who lives in Walmley. Jason has 25 years experience of both teaching and training Karate and has competed in both National and International competitions. Jason is a qualified instructor with F.E.K.O. the UK's largest Karate Association which means that your child will be eligible for regular gradings.
This is a fantastic opportunity for children to keep active and learn from one of the countries leading instructors in a safe, friendly and fun environment. If you cant make Wednesdays you are welcome to attend our Fairfax school Karate Club every Thursday 7-8pm.
Please make sure your child has loose fitting, comfortable clothing (PE kit or tracksuit is advised). Beginners most welcome.

Sutton Coldfield Shukokai Karate was formed in 2005 by Sensei Jason Smith 4th Dan.
Jason first discovered Shukokai Karate in 1989 after watching a demonstration by then World Heavy Weight Champion Sensei George Mcnally 3rd Dan. The demonstration impressed Jason with the speed and power that was created with kicks and punches. Jason worked hard for the next few years and had great success competing at national competitions. He was rewarded with a place on the British Squad for the 1992 World Championships in Portugal. Jason was then awarded his Black Belt by Sensei Kimura at the World Championships after reaching the quarter final stage in the individual kumite and being part of the mens Gold medal squad. He then went on to represent Great Britain at the next World Championships in the U.S.A, again Jason reached the quarter final stage and received a Silver medal in the mens team event.
Jason was awarded his 2nd Dan in 1995, 3rd Dan in 2001 and received the rank of 4th Dan in 2006. He has many years experience in developing students to reach their full potential.
Jason is a full time professional Karate instructor who currentley is a Level 3 Personal Trainer and Advanced Fitness Instructor. Registered with R.E.P's. (Register of Exercise Professionals) Why not come along and see for yourself, Sutton Coldfield Shukokai is a family run club and welcomes new members of all ages and abilities - the whole family can come along.

The school holidays are fast approaching and I wanted to make sure you can continue with your Karate as there wont be any classes in school during the holidays. There will be a class available for you to attend throughout the holidays every Tuesday from Tuesday 27th July through to Tuesday 31st August from 7pm-8pm at Holy Cross & St Francis Church Hall, which is on the corner of Signal Hayes Road and Walmley Road.
Its important you keep up your training ready for the next grading in August. Looking forward to seeing you there.

Remember we are looking for the student who consistently demonstrates a positive attitude towards their training, who shows good effort and listens carefully: We are looking for overall improvement, concentration and effort giving each one of you a fair chance to be selected.
